Name:
Nafula | Born in the Rain
Age:
40 months
Gender:
Female
Rank:
Pride Lands Lioness
Appearance:
Nafula is the daughter of a white lion and a brown lioness. She bears the white of her father for the most part, but has darker ears, back, and tail. Her nose is a faded rose pink and her eyes are a light blue-gray. At first, it was expected that she would be blind, but she proved that wrong. Though her stare is quite unsettling anyway. She has light whiskers as well, that blend in with her light fur. She is small, mostly due to a lack of nutrition as a cub, but is able to hold her own in battle and is more agile as a result of her stature.
Personality:
Nafula is strong and sturdy, regardless of her stunted height. She is hardened as a result of her past and will tend to react fiercely at first, but can be friendly. She is very loving towards her cubs, but fiercely protective as well. She insists on them practicing their battle moves, as well as honing her own. Nafula is loyal to her friends though, and is very patient with the cubs. She is respectful and responsible for her share of the work, but hates to be bossed around, and prefers requests rather than orders with the situation permits courtesy.
History: Nafula is tough. Since she was born in the midst of a rainstorm a month after the rest of the cubs in the pride were, she had to be. Her first sensations were of cold, and later of fear, as the older cubs bullied her and tormented her. She was often hungry, but her mother did everything she could to see that she was fed.
However, all the pain she experienced as a cub made her tough. When she was only a year old, her pride was taken over by a new leader, which Nafula loathed. Nafula wasn’t the only one to dislike the usurper and three of the lionesses tried to gain up on him. Unfortunately, they were fended on and Nafula’s mother was killed. Nafula refused to put up with the new pride, so she fled.
Along the way she met another male loner, and they shared a short-lived friendship before he was killed in a rockslide. Saran and Lisha are the result of that friendship.
When the cubs were six weeks old, Nafula had brought them out of the den and Saran decided to explore further than her mother liked. When Nafula and Lisha followed, they found Saran had met a cub about her own age and the mother. At first, Nafula was cautious and fierce, but as the cubs began to play, Nafula began to realize she needed a new pride to help raise her cubs.
Nafula petitioned for entrance into the pride with her new friend’s help, and it was granted. She has become a little less edgy around the other lionesses, but is still adjusting.
