Personality:
as.I.was
While a cub I was foolhardy and arrogant. My brother and I were reckless and he earned a scar for it. I was foolish to trust my brother, and blind to his dark heart. I was also negligent in preparing my pride to deal with a potential threat from within. I have tried to undo that mistake by helping to guide them, when they listen.
as.I.am
Now I look over the Pridelands to the best of my ability. However, my eyesight is somewhat limited. I can't see into the Outlands, since the darkness there is too great. I can only act on knowledge I can glean from the Pridelanders, especially Rafiki.
History:
I am the son of Adahi and Ura, brother to Scar, mate to Sarabi, and father to Simba. I was raised alongside Taka, who was later known as Scar, but we grew distant. Adahi knew only one of his sons could become king, and he chose me, since he thought I was the one more fit to rule, though I myself think I did a poor job of it at times.
I was merciful to my brother, allowing him to stay in the Pridelands, rather than chasing him off as some kings of the past had done to their male kin. I sometimes wish I had chased him off.
Scar's betrayal came hard to me, and I was worried for my son. To see him so alone, so sad, tore my heart apart. It was painful and yet he grew from it. He was able to summon the courage to return to Pride Rock and claim his rightful place as king, and though he does not always do everything perfectly right, I am proud of him.
I watched as his daughter grew, and eventually fell in love with Kovu. However, my plan for them worked, and now together they are ruling the Pridelands. Their union has brought together two sides that were formerly bitter enemies. The Pridelands are doing well with Kovu's strength and Kiara's heart.
